⚡Dispatch 03 - Tres Things, Uno Quote Edition

Yo Stoked Dad,

Experimenting with a different format - let me know if you like these shorter thoughts!

  1. We have to put in the work. We must focus on the emotional, physical, and mental work to be the best and most stoked of dads. Being a father has challenged my endurance (I slept 4 hours last night), my patience (how many times do I need to repeat the same set of instructions), and my decision making ability (good Lord there are a million decisions a day as a parent). We have to put in the work to be our best selves so that we can be the best dads we can be.
  2. We must get movement - no matter how busy we think we are, we need to move, to workout, to get stronger. We want to model health to our kids, we want to be strong enough to play and lift them as they grow. We move so that we can stay in motion the rest of fatherhood. “I’d rather wear out than rust out.” - Teddy Rosevelt
  3. Currently reading “How to Think Like a Roman Emperor” by Donald Robertson. It’s a rad blend of stoic thought, biography of Marcus Aurelius, and modern psychology. Stoic philosophy has exploded the past few years. I remember reading Meditations in seminary and loving it. Reading is a way for us to connect to the larger body of wisdom and transformation. I’m working hard on modeling reading for Hannah.

“Don't be ashamed to need help. Like a soldier storming a wall, you have a mission to accomplish. And if you've been wounded and you need a comrade to pull you up? So what?”

-MARCUS AURELIUS

Be stoked my friend,

Kris

P.S. - I’m focused on getting better and growing a stoked dad community with each dispatch. If you liked these, it would mean a ton if you shared it with someone else.
